Based on a true story, this involving, entertaining short drama is an open and very honest look at a topic most filmmakers are afraid to touch, namely how some young men are attracted to much older partners. It's beautifully shot and edited, with complex performances that feel unusually light, even with the serious subtext. And it skilfully centres on a pivotal moment in time.

The film opens in a quiet gay pub in London, as a hesitant 20-something man (Valentine) spots a man in his 60s (Watkins) at the bar. Their flirtation deepens into an unexpected connection, and they walk through the street to the older man's hotel room. But as they begin to discover a shared intimacy, their nerves begin to get the better of them.

Earthy humour pulls us in to their interaction, allowing us to identify with unspoken feelings that are swirling between these men. A clever use of locations grounds everything, while effortlessly engaging performances by Valentine and Watkins give it a striking kick. Each scene is delicately observed, as both of them are testing the waters, trying to be their genuine selves. So they are surprised, excited and also apprehensive. Director Pluck and writer Sherwood have created a remarkable film that's intensely personal, vulnerable and also very real.
