It's swinging '60s London, where Tommy Chase's (Cosmo) three daughters Gerry, Mandy and Jo (Nicole, Natalie and Melanie) have embarked on a crime spree dressed as young men. Soon Gerry is entwined with a counterculture magazine journalist (Facinelli), while the other sisters get on with the business of annoying some really big crime bosses. Drug trips and hijinks ensue.
We don't really need yet another London crime comedy, do we? And we certainly don't need one as ineptly assembled as this film. There's not a single convincing bit of dialogue or plotting in the whole film, despite the assured visual style of director-cowriter Stewart (yes, the Eurythmic), who does at least create a terrific texture on screen. And while Facinelli is at least watchable in what emerges as the central role, the Appletons and Blatt are simply not strong enough actors to hold up such a flimsy story that tries to be gritty, breezy and romantic, but fails on each front. And with a string of climactic sequences and false endings as everyone learns life lessons, these 105 minutes feel more like four hours.
