Tessa Thompson and Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin) will star in BALESTRA, a psychological thriller about a disgraced fencer hoping to make a comeback at the Olympics using a device that allows her to continue training while lucid dreaming. Nicole Dorsey is directing. Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Millie Davis (Wonder) and Faran Tahir (Iron Man) are voicing characters in LAMYA'S POEM, an animated adventure about a 12-year-old Syrian refugee who uses a book by 13th century poet Rami to escape from her grim reality. Alexander Kronemer is writing and directing. Keira Knightly will produce and star in THE OTHER TYPIST, a thriller series set in Prohibition-era New York City. It's about a timid secretary who is drawn into a shady underworld by a glamorous colleague. Ilene Chaiken is adapting the novel. Viggo Mortensen is reteaming with Green Book director Peter Farrelly for THE GREATEST BEER RUN EVER, based on the true story of a man who left New York in 1967 to deliver beers to his childhood pals while they were fighting in Vietnam. Patrick Wilson and Charlie Plummer are joining the cast of MOONFALL, a disaster adventure about a group of experts who trying to keep the moon from crashing into the Earth. The film also stars Halle Berry and Josh Gad; Roland Emmerich is directing. Miles Teller will star in NOT WITHOUT HOPE, based on the true story of a group of friends who head out into the Gulf of Mexico on a day trip, where they are capsized by a severe storm. Rupert Wainwright is directing from a script by E Nicholas Mariani. Tika Sumpter will star in THE ANCESTOR, which is being described as a Get Out-style psychological thriller. It's about a med student who finds herself in a terrifying situation. Michael B Jordan is producing the film, which was written by Kay Oyegun (This Is Us). Mandip Gill (Doctor Who) and Georgia Hirst (Vikings) will star in FIVE DATES, an interactive romantic comedy about a millennial in London who joins a dating app during lockdown. Costars include Marisa Abela, Taheen Modak and singer Sinead Harnett. Paul Raschid is writing and directing. Writer-producer Jason Kim (Girls, Barry) will adapt RUNNING OUT OF CHILDREN, a drama about grandmothers who finally got the chance to attend school, filling out the seats in classrooms that were empty due to declining birth rates. And Pierce Brosnan will star in YOUTH, a sci-fi thriller based on a short film set in the near future as a 70-year-old retiree and his wife who decide to have their bodies' biological clock reversed back to their prime. But the procedure goes awry. Brett Marty is directing.
David Oyelowo is producing, while Denzel Whitaker is writing and directing, the short film 5150, starring Jovan Adepo (Watchmen). It's about an arrogant young celebrity whose erratic behaviour leads to him being confined in a psychiatric facility. Allison Janney and John Hawkes will join Andrea Riseborough in TO LESLIE, a drama about a single mother whose life takes a turn for the worse when she wins the lottery. Years later, she's trying to rebuild her life. Michael Morris is directing. Elisabeth Moss will reunite with The Handmaid's Tale director Daina Reid for the horror film RUN RABBIT RUN, about a fertility doctor who must confront a ghost from her past when her daughter starts behaving strangely. The script is by Hannah Kent. Keke Palmer will produce and star in ALICE, a thriller based on the true story of a slave in 19th century Georgia who escapes from the plantation and is shocked to discover that it's actually 1973. Krystin Ver Linden is writing and directing. Thomasin McKenzie is in training to become a ballet dancer for her role in JOIKA, based on the true story of Joy Womack, one of the few foreigners who attended Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet Academy. Womack herself is overseeing McKenzie's training. James Napier Robertson is directing. Jamie King is joining Bruce Willis in the thriller OUT OF DEATH, about a woman on a hike who witnesses a crime and, while trying to get away from a gang of baddies, seeks help from a retired forest ranger. Mike Burns is directing from a script by Bill Lawrence. Meanwhile, Willis has two more films in the works: RUN OF THE HITMAN is about a mercenary trying to stop a corrupt government official from taking over his business, and KILLING FIELD is about a cop and a pair of violent criminals who invade a woman's peaceful, isolated farm. Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) will write and direct THIS IS CHANCE, based on a novel about the real-life 1964 mega-earthquake in Anchorage, Alaska. The story centres on a radio reporter who helps bring the community together in the aftermath. Timur Bekmambetov is planning five more movies following on from Searching and Unfriended, in which all the action takes place on a phone or computer screen. Proposed projects include sequels to both SEARCHING and the hitman thriller WANTED. And Lionel Richie is developing ALL NIGHT LONG, a movie musical based on his songs. The plan is to make a sort of biopic, including songs from his time in The Commodores. Pete Charelli (Crazy Rich Asians) is writing the script.
Jake Gyllenhaal will star in SNOW BLIND, based on the graphic novel about a high school student who posts a photo of his dad on social media without knowing that his family is in witness protection. And now killers are after them. Gustav Moller (The Guilty) is directing from a script by Patrick Ness. Bruce Campbell is returning for EVIL DEAD NOW, a new film in the long-running franchise. Apparently this story stands apart from the previous three movies, the 2013 remake and the TV series. Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) is writing and directing. Danny Pudi (Community), Emily C Chang (The Vampire Diaries), Eddie Alfano (Shameless) and Maiara Walsh (Zombieland) star in BABYSPLITTERS, a comedy about two couples that decide to conceive and share a baby between them. Marc Feuerstein costars; Sam Friedlander is directing. Rumour has it that filmmaker Matt Reeves is planning to bring the Joker back for two sequels to THE BATMAN, the Robert Pattinson-starring franchise reboot that has paused production at the moment. Apparently, Joker doesn't appear in this film, but don't rule anything out. Judd Apatow is working on a documentary about the legendary counterculture comic GEORGE CARLIN, whose playful intelligence created hilarious riffs that are as pointed today as the were in the 70s and 80s. The film will include his interviews and standup. Stanley Nelson (The Black Panthers) is directing ATTICA, a documentary that will explore the notorious 1971 prison riot in upstate New York. The rebellion lasted five days and turned deadly when state troopers stormed the prison, killing 43 and injuring hundreds. Greg Silverman and Jon Berg will produce BITCOIN BILLIONAIRES, a sequel to the book that The Social Network was based on. It's about the continuing fortunes of Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the twins who clashed with Mark Zuckerberg over Facebook. They were played by Armie Hammer in the earlier film. Parker Finn will write and direct a feature-length remake of his short horror film LAURA HASN'T SLEPT, about a young woman (Caitlin Stasey) who consults with a therapist in order to stop a recurring nightmare. And after the critical success of Hereditary and Midsommar, writer-director Ari Aster says he is working on a new project that he describes as a "zonky nightmare comedy" that will be four hours long.
